I’ve been saying it for years: Being out of the office doesn’t mean you’re out of the game.
Thanks to technology, you can work from anywhere in the world. That’s even more true (and increasingly accepted) during this time of widespread stay-at-home orders and shutdowns.
In a time when everyone’s personal and professional lives are massively disrupted, you have a choice:
Choice 1: You can worry about all the things you can’t control: The novel coronavirus, the stock market, the shutdowns. You can hit pause on everything.
Choice 2: You can turn your attention to the things you CAN control:
- The content you’re making
- The contacts you’re making
- The clients you’re trying to serve
…and of course your MINDSET.
Keri and I are in Florida because Virginia was completely shut down. Don’t get me wrong, though — just because we changed our location doesn’t mean we’re on vacation.
Could be upset about disrupted plans? Absolutely. We could spend our energy being mad about not being able to make use of the brand-new office and podcast room that we just built out.
Instead, we’ve been focused on pivoting fast.
It’s been an amazing 2 weeks. Our team ratified almost 40 deals. We’ve booked 140 new buyer and seller appointments.
You have to pivot your business, not pause it.
Life is 90% how you react and only 10% what happens to you.
Focus on how you’re going to adapt. I know it’s hard… but I want to encourage you to stay in the game.
Changing markets and conditions mean that some opportunities will close off, sure — but others are always opening.
And as always, a change in location means a change in perspective. Keep an open mind and watch for new opportunities. Create content. Make contact. Serve clients.
